Understanding of god

I’m not sure if I’ve understood god at all. Maybe there is something magical out there. And, may be not. I’m starting to think that it’s all in our heads! We desperately need someone to cling on to when we lose hope. God fits in perfectly, doesn’t he? That invisible friend, who knows it all, tests you, secretly guides you and also makes sure that everything is going to be okay in the end. But not every story has a fairy tale ending. When something fails, we assume it did because god wanted to give us something better! When it works out, then we thank god for his grace. This is what bothers me so much these days! If god is all loving, all knowing and super powerful, then why do we have to perform so many rituals, give him offerings and sing praises to please him? The only explanation I can come up with is this: we created god, so we made sure he has one big ego like the rest of us!

Spiritual practices

My one and only spiritual practice these days — mindful meditation now and then. It sounds easy but it’s possibly one of the most difficult things to practice!

Spiritual beliefs

I consider myself an agnostic pantheist. It seems to be the safest and most sensible choice available!

Pilgrimage sites

I have visited plenty of pilgrimage sites in the past. I guess that it’s part and parcel of our Indian lifestyle. But we do visit Tirupathi at least once every year.

Take on miracles

I don’t believe that miracles are possible at all. What we might consider a miracle is probably just a coincidence or has a scientific explanation. If not, I’m sure it would have been in the news!
