An 18-month-old son of a brickkiln labourer died on the spot after he was run over by a van that was attempting to take a reverse from the kiln in Vengal near Tiruvallur on Friday. Toddler Paramasivan’s sister Kavya suffered a fracture. Paramasivan was playing with Kavya (3) while father Babu (28) was at work when the incident occurred. The police arrested van driver Venkatesan (38).
Infant found dead
The body of a newborn girl was recovered near the railway line at Perungalathur on Saturday morning. Police said passers by alerted them after they noticed stray dogs fighting around the body. The body was recovered and sent for post mortem to the Chromepet GH.
Man arrested
The city police arrested Kamesh in connection with the murder of auto driver Basha (39) in Kodungaiyur. On Tuesday night, Basha left home along with his friends and did not return. His body was found in Madhavaram the next day.

The Central Crime Branch police arrested four persons, including a building contractor, his wife and son, for allegedly grabbing a 4,500-sq ft piece of land in Perambur with fake documents on Saturday.
