The members of the Lions Club of Anna Nagar Charitable Trust handed over the Siemens Magnetom Essenza 1.5 Tesla MRI equipment worth Rs 4 crore to the Swami Vivekananda Diagnostic Centre here on Wednesday. Tamil Nadu Governor Dr K Rosaiah inaugurated the facility.

Swami Vivekananda Diagnostic Centre (SVDC) founded in 1998 is located at the premises donated by DG Vaishnav College within its campus. It is run with the support of the Lions Club of Anna Nagar Charitable Trust and has various kinds of diagnostic facilities like a CT Scan, digital X-ray, colour Doppler, comprehensive ECG ECHO, ultrasound scan, EEG, EMG, automated clinical lab and so on. The trust now has a state-of-the-art 1.5 Tesla MRI machine, used for cancer diagnosis.

Inaugurating the facility, Dr K Rosaiah, said, “Some established kingdoms, some built economic empires, some built temples and some built educational institutions with a mission to serve the people. Mother Teresa once rightly said, ‘serving hands are greater than praying lips.’ Selfless service with devotion and dedication for the cause of the needy makes one really great.”

P Haridas, Secretary, DG Vaishnav College was also present at the occasion.
