As many as 250 students from institutions for the hearing impaired participated in an inter-school quiz and painting competition, organised and conducted by the Deaf Enabled Foundation here on Saturday.

The participants were divided into two categories — juniors (class V-VII) and seniors (class VIII-X).

The events were titled ‘Colours of Silence’ and ‘Quiz Time’, with the objective of giving the children an opportunity to enjoy themselves and play with colours.  The venue for the events was Dr MGR Janaki College for Women, R A Puram.

The organisers said that the events would prove to be a platform for the hearing impaired persons, wherein they would compete with one another and stimulate their artistic and intellectual growth.

The Deaf Enabled Foundation is an organisation with the mission of achieving equal access for the deaf in India in all walks of life.

The organisation aims to enhance the quality of the hearing impaired, provide educational facilities, promote socio-cultural awareness and ensure barrier free communication for them.
