CHENNAI: Bond of relationship happens with communication or exchange of energy between two. It can be between soul and a body or between two different souls. Our relationship is determined by consciousness of the inner self; “Consciousness” governed by our own thoughts and feelings with the awareness of Who am I?
The communication or connection is between two souls based on the consciousness of what I think of the other person or how I feel about the other person. Purity in my inner consciousness creates a sense of security and the bond of protection in relationships.
Today relationships are distorted with frustration and resentment due to the constraints of dependencies, attachments, desires, and expectations.
Purity in consciousness emerges from the true realisation of the self. “Self’, the soul is an independent and powerful entity which uses the body and its limbs merely as a communicating tool. The quality of communication depends on who I am communicating to, the soul or the role?
For example, in the office when I am addressing the watch man, then the person at the front office and later my juniors and my superiors, am I able to communicate to all of them in a same way? No. which means I am communicating thru my role to those other roles. While at home my communication changes accordingly to my parents, wife or husband or children. In 10 minutes I have to change different masks and play roles. more masks, more suffocating I would feel.
The self is pure consciousness. In my original consciousness I should reflect the purity through the roles. Truly, the soul is a composition of seven different energies of knowledge, purity, peace, love, happiness, bliss and power. That is why the soul is addressed as satoguni or seven gunas, when competent with seven energies. When the purity of the soul is grimed by the five vices it becomes impure or tamoguni, ill character or no character. Thus the living entity’s pure consciousness becomes impure when covered by eternal enemies in the form of lust, anger, greed, attachment and ego.
In my consciousness, when I identify myself as a body lust is born. To make my body beautiful to feel I am beautiful is the reason for the material mode of passion and later transformed into all kinds of wrath. When I identify myself as a body, then I am attracted to another beautiful body. This leads to endless efforts keep me to looking good and beautiful externally.
Lust, at the very core is loving my own body, creates a feeling of lofty when appreciated and feel stumpy when rejected. Today’s scenario, we can understand this very well, as lust has nothing to do with opposite gender alone. But attraction to the same gender is also possible. This proves that, idea behind the word ‘Lust’ is best comprehended as the psychological force called ‘Wanting’ to feel good by regulating my own biological senses and it is less to do with the other person.
When identification of the self happens with the body, the mind is in a state of delusion, and this false identification and delusion makes us to play our roles erroneously and interact erroneously in my relationships. As I am attached to my various roles of mother, father, teacher, or boss, I am attached to the idea or opinion of these roles. I think, speak and act based on this. As I repeatedly act, that becomes my sanskar or character. This sanskar or character becomes a trail to shape the personality. Hence, the purity in inner consciousness is curbed and alloyed with various negative emotions such as anger, jealousy, hatred, fear and pain. These negative emotions over power my original spiritual personality and creates a fear and a feeling of insecurity. This is the reason every single relationship lacks a foundation of love and shaking in wanting for protection.
Who can protect? How can we get protected when the enemy is our own alter ego? Cancerous vices of lust, anger, greed, attachment and ego is spread inside and is slaying way the self. This is the time that we need a spiritual supreme surgeon to slash this impurity.
Where there is a bond of purity without the feeling of lust, only that relationship can give protection. That is the reason Raksha Bandan (Bond Of Protection) is celebrated between a brother and a sister, where there is a purity in relationship, exist.
We can only be protected when we vow to return to the original consciousness of the pure self by removing every trace of body consciousness. It is a promise we make to the supreme being to remain and return to purity while accepting the sacred thread of Rakhi.
