CHENNAI : The Post Graduate and Research Department of Commerce of D G Vaishnav College organised Vanikotsav’14, to mark its golden jubilee. The two -day academic fest covering topics on HR, marketing and finance was held on September 29 and 30, under the guidance of N Kalyanaraman, head of the department.
The event was presided over by R Muthukumar, editor and publisher of Makkal Kurral and Trinity Mirror. The welcome address was delivered by N Kalyanaraman. The presidential address was delivered by Major M Venkatramanan, principal of the college, who said that Vanikotsav , which meant business celebrations, included brain-storming sessions for the benefit of the student community.
Nearly 200 participants across various disciplines from the college took part in the event. The winners were awarded cash prizes. A variety of events such as pot pourrie and Ad review were organised. The dignitaries included Olivannan, president, Book Club India, who was the chief guest, P Haridas, secretary of the college, and N Bhuma, staff coordinator.
