CHENNAI: She is a multifaceted personality and wishes to bring about an optimistic change. Pooja Ruprell, who’s latest book Passion, Perseverance & Prayer was launched on Tuesday, gives her perspective of the events that unfolded in her life. “The book can be sub-titled the happiness manual. Nevertheless, it isn’t necessary for every reader to agree with the insights I have shared in the book, others may have different views about similar events that would have happened in their life. I just wish to use my own experiences to connect with people who have an inclination to pursue a spiritual journey,” she says.

Her journey with writing began when she was just 10 years old. She recalls, “I had gone to school and when I returned I saw my grandmother breathe her last. As she was the only surviving grandparent, I couldn’t control my grief and it came out in the form of a poem. But I never showed it to my parents or relatives, as I was shy and felt that the poem was rubbish.”

Born and brought up in India, Pooja, who started practising Buddhism from 1998, shifted base to Canada in 2006. Her first book – Journey in Faith tells the story of her spiritual awakening, while her second one – An Immigrant’s Journey, encourages newcomers to Canada to learn from her life’s experiences. As for her third, Pooja says that it took her not more than 60 days to put together! “I had been blogging for more than three years and I decided to compile my blog posts to come out with a book as I wanted others to benefit from my experiences,” the writer who also juggles a career as a business manager tells us. The compilation process took 35 days and the atmosphere in these was very conducive for me and the words flowed out from my mind. But when I handed over the papers to the publisher, I was asked to remove close to 30, 000 words. Though initially the book was an everyday guide, giving a thought for a day for 365 days, I had to make it a weekly guide. That’s the story of this book,” she says.

The book encourages one to find their innate potential and face life with all their might. As Pooja puts it across conclusively, “With passion, perseverance and prayer, happiness cannot be given a go away; it then becomes a part of one’s life, at least that has been the case with me!”

Passion, Perseverance & Prayer is priced at Rs 299 and is published by Body and Soul Books.
