Anytime Fitness Opens in Chennai

CHENNAI: Anytime Fitness, a US-based chain opened its new club in Anna Nagar on Sunday. The fitness club already has presence in Hyderabad, Dimapur, New Delhi and Mumbai.

Speaking on the launch, Vikas Jain the managing director of Anytime Fitness India said, “Anytime Fitness health club is meant for busy people with a fast pace of life. With the gym’s membership, one can work out at their convenience, early morning or late evening. The club is open for 19 hours, seven days a week, and 365 days a year. Our motto is to create a healthier place with no boundaries of time.”

The fitness chain, which has 2,100 clubs in 20 countries, is now planning to open 25 clubs in India alone, “In the last two years, we have opened around eight Anytime Fitness franchises in Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai and we are finally opening one in Chennai. By the end of 2015, we plan to reach a figure of 25,” added Vikas.

Members also get a special key, with which they can go into any of the club’s franchises around the world. “We basically want to be available to people,” said John Kersh, vice president of International Development, Anytime Fitness. He added, “People today, when asked about exercise have one excuse which is time. So, with this key, they can come to any of our franchises anytime and work out without a glitch.”

With fitness equipment numbering over 200, the club is all set to kick start. They had received around 200 membership signatures within just two hours of opening. The vice president seems very optimistic about business in Chennai. “With the existent awareness about health and fitness today, our business is only growing. And we expect the same from Chennai too as you can see the response has been great so far,” said John, pointing to a heavy stack of membership forms.

Anytime Fitness is located at  Plot No 3978, S-Block, 6th Avenue, Anna Nagar. An annual package is priced at Rs 17, 500 plus taxes.
