CHENNAI: Noted Telugu writer Palagummi Padmaraju’s centenary year celebrations were held at Sri Potti Sriramulu Memorial Hall under the auspices of Nela Nela Vennela forum.

The evening saw a packed house with the audience comprising writers, thinkers, and personalities from the film industry who came to pay their tributes to the memory of the veteran writer, Padmaraju, who lived in Chennai for most part of his career as literary figure and a major film writer of Telugu cinema.

Katragadda Murari, a senior film producer who made a number of super hit films in telugu like Gorintaku and Undamma bottu pedatha, Sarojini Premchand and Seetha Palagummi, daughter of the famous writer as well as head of programming at Gemini TV participated in the programme.The speakers shared some rare aspects of the renowned writer’s life and work with the audience.

Sri Murari called Padmaraju a mature intellectual who could relate to all his audiences. He admired Padmaraju’s extraordinary understanding of human nature and expressed his gratitude to the writer for his patience in dealing with young and then inexperienced people like him.

Sarojini Prem Chand, a writer and translator of telugu stories made a comprehensive analysis of Padmaraju’s writing. Starting with his lyrical verses, she commented on the writer’s perception and opined that Padmaraju was neither a Leftist nor a rightist
