CHENNAI: Nerunchipatti, an interior village in Pudukottai Taluk with a population of over 7,000, may well claim to producing its first doctor from its ranks — C Vinoth, a candidate who has provisionally secured a government medical seat in Trichy Medical College.

C Vinoth who comes under the MBC category is one of many who secured a free medical seat during the first phase of counselling for MBBS, BDS courses on Monday. However, as the High Court is seized with a petition in connection with the ongoing counselling, all admissions are provisional until the final order.

“There are no health facilities in my village. I want to become a doctor and serve my villagers,” Vinoth said.
