CHENNAI: A little shy of their 15th wedding anniversary, Ajith’s wife Shalini gave birth to their second child in the wee hours of Monday. Though the former actress had gone into labour a few hours prior to 4.20 am, when the child was eventually born, surgeons at the Apollo Hospital on Greams Road managed the surgery-assisted delivery seamlessly and both mother and child are hale and healthy.
Ajith’s manager confirmed that the couple had driven to the Apollo Hospital and admitted her for the delivery on Sunday afternoon. From the time she had been admitted, Ajith stayed by her side and did not leave till the baby boy was born. In a tradition that several new-age dads have been following, ‘Thala’ stayed in the operation theatre all through the process and was among the first to hold his child.
Hospital sources confirmed that the child weighed a near-perfect 2.7 kg and has been showing excellent vitals. The family is expected to return to their house in three days. The child was delivered by OB-GYN specialist Dr R Kondammal.
Within an hour of the news getting out that their hero was a dad again (his daughter Anoushka was born in 2008) fans and celebs from tinseltown began wishing him the very best. After a while, the working title of #KuttiThala began trending in the city tor the new addition to his family.
