CHENNAI: A fire broke out in the IIT Madras campus on Wednesday night and five fire tenders have been rushed to the spot, according to sources. No casualties have been reported.
In a statement released by the institute, the fire broke out in a part of the top floor of the Industrial Consultancy & Sponsored Research building of IIT Madras. No one was inside the building, it added.
According to the institute's 'The Fifth Estate' Facebook page, the source of the fire has been traced to the NPTEL office, from where people had left 15 minutes before the incident.

"The reason for the fire will be investigated," the statement further read.
