Apart from having hosted primetime time shows on Sun TV, and selling over 100 acrylic pieces at Vinnyasa Premier Art Gallery recently, Thejaswini is gearing up for the release of her movie, Andhra Mess later this year. She is also the studio director at Design DNA, and also an ardent animal lover. She was involved in rescuing over 50 stray dogs.  

What is your Chennai connect?

I belong to a Telugu-speaking family from Dharmapuri. However, I was brought up at IIT Madras...I’ve always been a Chennaiite!

One thing about namma ooru you like?

We are capable of getting both culturally and ‘alcoholically’ high.

Three things here that can’t be found in any part of the world?

Molaga bajji, men looking sophisticated in a veshti and the fact that we have enormous pride in our heritage.

A Chennai-based celeb or any personality whom you would like to date or go out with?

If you had asked me earlier, I would have said Thalaivar but now that I’m married and he is a granddad. So now, it has to be Aadhi.

Three stereotypes about the city and its’ people that make you roll your eyeballs?

Are there malls in Chennai? Don’t you all wear just sarees?, There are no hill stations near Chennai, right?

Where would you take a newbie?

Kalakshetra if I’m fond of the person and T Nagar Ranganathan street if I dislike them!

A Tamil movie dialogue which describes Chennai?

Innaiku Setha Naalikku Paalu! I’ve seen this being used everywhere — from diffusing street fights to negotiating the price of fruits !

If you would like to install another statue at Marina beach, what or who would it be?

One representing the humble farmer...it’s a reminder for Chennaiites to support our farmers more!

Describe the city in your own words.

My city embraces all and discriminates against none… as a great Tamil poet once said ‘Vannganna ...vankkanganna’ !

Two Madras bashai words you’d teach a newbie?

Start every sentence with O***a for street credibility and prefix ammaa very sweetly when talking to women.
