CHENNAI: School Connects, in association with Jeppiaar CBSE and Matric School, hosted an interactive learning fest for kids aged between three and 17, titled the Young Learner Fest, 2018, at the New Woodland Hotel in Mylapore, on Sunday. Introducing the chief guest Regeena J Murli, chairman and MD of Jeppiaar Schools and Colleges, Umesh Jain, founder of School Connects said, “Such initiatives by the organiser will help to bridge the gap in our current education system and help the kids to grow in life.”

The fest, which saw 762 children and 1,286 parents take part, included different workshops and seminars for kids and their parents. The children were also educated on road rules, safety gears and methods through cartoons during the workshop. “It is important to know the right size of cycles for the right age group. Bigger cycles can hurt their back while the smaller ones will hurt their knees,” said Nikhila, Track and Trail.

True to its motto of providing holistic education to the kids, the fest had also various interactive workshops and stalls on the ground first floor of the hotel. Integrated, one of the sponsors, decided to teach the art of saving money to kids. “We aim to introduce the habit of saving money to the kids through games where they will be taken through the different stages savings and expenditure,” said Vasumathi, representative from Integrated.  Cuemath also put an activity stall to teach kids math through visuals.

“The kids are given their responsive cards according to their skill level. It is a fully automatic system,” said Vinoth a representative from CueMath. The stalls, many of which featured interactive games, were filled with children trying to follow the instructions of the workshop coordinator. “I am excited to learn new things that will help me in my daily life. It is a great platform for kids like us to learn and share those lessons,” said Shri Abhirami, a student from Vels Vidyashram.

Ceremony

The felicitation ceremony was held for the sponsors and the partners by Regeena, Umesh and Rajesh Sanghvi, founder of School Connects. Young achievers from different schools were also awarded from Vels Vidyashram in Jeppiaar School and many more.
