CHENNAI:  The National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers is considering star rating of hospitals to improve the quality of health care in India,” said Dr Mahesh Verma, Chairman, NABH; Vice Chancellor, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University while delivering Tmt. Janaki MGR endowment oration in Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research.

“Benchmarks will be set up for each star of quality health care delivery. Two days ago we also launched the third edition of dental accreditation by which dental clinics with up to eight chairs can also get accredited. This is being done to standardise quality healthcare delivery and bring about overall patient satisfaction,” he said.

Speaking on Blue Riband Dental Care – blending quality and innovation, he said quality is the precursor of innovation. Continuous quality maintenance and innovation is necessary for optimal health outcomes and it should also be safe, effective, affordable and equitable, he added.
