CHENNAI: Sanitary workers from Royapuram and Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar zones held a rally on Friday demanding reinstatement under the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) as of July 31, instead of through private contractor Ramky Group.

The march, backed by Samuga Seyarpatalargal Kuttu Iyakkam, came as four workers’ indefinite hunger strike entered its 12th day.

With three requiring IV fluids, they urged Chief Minister M K Stalin or Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin to intervene and secure their jobs.
