Chennai man dies after leg severed, forced to consume poison over alleged relationship

CHENNAI: A 31-year-old man was attacked with a sickle, his leg severed and was forced to consume pesticide over alleged relationship with a married woman. His body was found in bushes near Sunambedu in Chengalpattu. The police have arrested seven persons, including the woman’s husband and father.

The deceased has been identified as M Vijay (31), a mason from Thamaraikeni village near Sunambedu. According to the police, Vijay was in a relationship with a married woman from the same village. Her family members had warned the duo against continuing the relationship, but they allegedly refused to budge.

The police said Vijay had gone to the woman’s house two days ago. Upon learning about his visit, the woman’s relatives allegedly confronted and attacked him.

On Friday morning, the Chunambedu police received information about man’s body lying in the bushes. They sent it to Chengalpattu Government Hospital for postmortem.
