NEW DELHI: After experimenting different styles of protest the farmers from the Tamil Nadu has started gaining support from the locals including the Delhi Tamils, school children and students of Delhi University after 20 days.

Nearly 30 students who pooled money from their pocket money and cooked food for the farmers which they supplied on Saturday. The farmers who came to Delhi for the second time demanding loan waiver of farmer’s loan and interlinking of rivers, after quitting the protest in May this year tried many forms of protest such as acting like dogs, beating themselves with chappal (Foot wear), shaving their heads, ghost protest and applying dirty mud on the body, the farmers have finally got the helping hands from the students of the St.Mary’s school.

More than a two dozen of students of class IX and X and a teacher from St.Mary’s school came together providing food, water and other daily requirements for the protestors.

“I was about to start teaching the chapter to my students but on that day asked me to discuss on the farmers protesting at the Jantar Mantar. When I was explaining the demands of the farmers, the students said that when Gurudwara is helping them, why can’t we support the farmers in any way” said Reena, teacher of Class IX, St.Mary’s school.

“We are watching these farmers daily in news channel and felt very disheartened that why the government is not helping them even after seeing them acting like dogs, beating themselves in chappals. So we all thought we will raise money and divided into groups. One group bought cooked food, one bought water and another decided to buy biscuits and other important things” said Preeti, class 9 student.

“The government is not helping us but these small kids are like a god to us who made their effort and filled our empty stomach with a healthy home-like food by pouring lots of love” said R.Rani, the only lady who is protesting at the site since last 20 days.
