NEW DELHI: In a major breakthrough, the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police busted three extortion modules operated by notorious gangs led by Goldy Brar, Lawrence Bishnoi, Kala Jhatedi, and Sampat Nehra.

The arrest of eight people connected to these criminal syndicates was made, revealing an international network involved in luring juveniles for gang activities and using the extorted money for luxurious lifestyles and investments in foreign countries.

Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Singh Yadav said this international crime syndicate has been carrying out its extortion activities in Delhi, NCR, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana and Rajasthan.

“The modus operandi of the gang has become refined and sophisticated. Since they are working from overseas, it has made it difficult for Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) to track their foreign funds. Their extortion rackets are being run with polished professionalism and strict defining of roles and responsibilities of each member,” the Special CP said while addressing a press conference.

Sharing details about the first module, the Special CP said a firing incident occurred at a house in Hari Nagar Ashram, wherein 5 rounds were fired at the main door of the house on April 24.  The victim of the Hari Nagar Ashram, New Delhi stated that on the intervening night of March 23-24, he received some voice messages on his phone from an unknown international mobile number in which the sender claimed himself a gangster Anmol Bishnoi (brother of Lawrence) and demanded extortion amount of 2 crores from him or else threatened of dire consequences.

He repeatedly received messages from unknown foreign origin numbers for the demand of extortion. He was given a deadline of 2nd April to pay the amount and on April 24 there was a firing incident in his adjacent house and he again received a threatening voice call from an unknown number claiming himself from Lawrence Bishnoi group and demanding money. The police nabbed the accused in this case, identified as Haren alias Devil, a resident of Rajkot, Gujarat.

In the second module, the same team of the Crime Branch busted another extortion racket of the same gang by arresting two sharpshooters of the Naresh Sethi gang named Sameer (18) and a juvenile after a brief shootout near Mundka, Delhi.

Tracking the third module, the police arrested three members of the Kala Jathedi and Lawrence Bishnoi gang named Sunny alias Prince, Ashu and Sunny from near Manokamna Apartment, Sector-34, Rohini, Delhi.
