NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Monday directed the government to demarcate the boundary of Samaypur Badli and prepare a fresh redevelopment plan to ensure that untreated sewage water does not flow into Yamuna.
A bench of Justice Prathiba Singh and Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora directed the government, Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), and Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) to prepare a fresh plan.
The bench noted that redevelopment plans for 25 non-conforming areas were submitted, and there were still two non-conforming areas at Samaipur Badli and Phirni Road, Mundka.
It has directed the DDA to hold a meeting with other authorities concerned on August 31 and come up with timelines as to the manner in which the approvals shall be obtained for the purpose of laying sewer lines and stormwater drains in the 25 areas.
The bench said that the government will have to go there and do a physical inspection of the area. “You can’t keep passing the buck. The boundary of Samaypur Badli has to be demarcated. The court cannot demarcate the areas for you,” the bench said, terming the matter “very important”.
“We have been managing this matter for one year, and Samaypur Badli is sleeping. Everybody is sitting in luxury,” it said. The court will further hear the matter on September 25.
