New Delhi will host a unique blend of live music and illustration today, as the French production Le Voyage de Rézé brings its ‘concert dessiné’ format to the city. Presented by the French Institute in India in partnership with the Alliance Française network in India, the performance is part of the French Live performing arts series and the France-India Year of Innovation 2026.
A ‘concert dessiné’ combines live music and illustration, with both created simultaneously on stage. The 70-minute performance will take audiences on a musical and visual journey, with original melodies accompanied by live illustrations that are drawn and projected on stage.
The India tour will visit nine cities this October, beginning in New Delhi today and concluding in Thiruvananthapuram on October 27. The show is produced by Les Productions du Bazar in Grenoble and has previously travelled to destinations including La Réunion, El Salvador and Angola.
The Le Voyage de Rézé quartet features Rézé, a Grenoble-based singer and guitarist whose travels have shaped the show’s eclectic musical character. At 20, he travelled through West Africa by hitchhiking, performing in countries including Gambia, Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso and Benin. He is joined on stage by percussionist Soifran, illustrator Emdé and Christoo, who handles the live projection.
“‘Le Voyage de Rézé’ is exactly the kind of cultural encounter we want to bring to India this year. It turns a concert into something the artists and the audience build together, live, and that spirit of creation and exchange is at the heart of what the France-India Year of Innovation stands for,” said Grégor Trumel, director, The French Institute in India.
