Nandi film awards to be presented on Ugadi

HYDERABAD: In an effort to streamline the presentation of the Nandi awards regularly, Andhra Pradesh State Film Television and Theatre Development Corporation (APSFTTDC) has decided to present the Nandi film awards on Ugadi day, television awards on October 23 (Telugu Television Day) and theatre awards on January 24 every year. The schedule will be implemented for Nandi awards to be presented for the year 2008 from next year.

Announcing this at a press conference here Monday, APSFTTDC managing director C Parthasarathi said a decision to this effect was taken to streamline the award presentation.

The Nandi theatre awards for 2007 have been already been presented and arrangements are being made to present the Nandi film awards for 2007 in December this year. A decision is yet to be taken on the date for presentation of Nandi television awards for 2007, he said.

A jury headed by film director Muthyala Subbaiah has finalised the winners of television awards for the year 2007.

In all, the Corporation received 67 entries under different categories.

The four awards under TV Children’s Films will not be presented as they did not receive any entries.

The winners include: Best tele film-Athidhi, Best feature-Muvvala Savvadi, Best mega serial-Sri Naarada Leelalu, Best daily serial- Sunayana, Best documentary film- Somasila Project Mumpu Baadhithulu, Best socially relevant film-Chedalu and Best educational film-Aarogyaniki 60 Rahasyalu. Under the individual categories, Meer won the best director award. The other recipients include: Best leading actor-Ashok Kumar, Best leading actress-Bhavana, Best male anchor- Rallabandi Kavitha Prasad, Best female anchor-Udaya Bhanu and Best first film of a director- Sabiha.

Special jury awards will be presented to Gummadi Gopala Krishna, Subbaraya Sarma and Nittala Srirama Chandra Murthy.
