HYDERABAD: In order to avoid the confusion among the tax payers, particularly those of erstwhile surrounding municipalities now merged with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) circles, the corporation has now created a common integrated Property Tax Identification Number (PTIN) with 10 digits, instead of 14 digits, for the properties situated within the GHMC limits. The new PTI Number with 10 digits is also given in the property tax Demand Bills for the year 2009- 10 along with the old PTI Number/ Assessment Number respectively. Both the numbers at present are posted on the GHMC website. Prior to the formation of GHMC, the properties were identified with a 10-digit Assessment Number in surrounding municipalities and a 14-digit Property Tax Identification Number with 14 digits in the erstwhile MCH area, which created confusion.
