HYDERABAD: The Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) is inching towards the TDP-led Grand Alliance.
MRPS founder Manda Krishna Madiga today held parleys with Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K Chandrasekhara Rao. Both the leaders discussed the present political situation.
In the morning, Manda Krishna met Vikarabad former MLA and TRS leader A Chandrasekhar.
Later, he called on TRS chief Rao at the latter’s residence.
Manda Krishna, who is angry with the UPA government for its failure to introduce a bill favouring categorisation of SCs, is moving closer to the Grand Alliance in the State.
He vowed to defeat the Congress in the next elections.
In the process, he held discussions with Rao.
Manda Krishna will continue discussions with the TRS chief tomorrow too. He will meet Rao along with his associates.
However, it is not clear whether the MRPS will field its candidates in the Assembly elections or join the Grand Alliance and contest a handful of seats.
Speculation is rife that Manda Krishna will contest from the Peddapally Lok Sabha seat on a Grand Alliance ticket.
The MRPS may announce its stand in a day or two. Today’s MRPS State executive discussed the political situation at length and almost decided to extend support to the Grand Alliance.
Speaking to reporters later, Manda Krishna said the aim of the MRPS and the Grand Alliance was the same, i.e., to defeat the Congress. He said it was more important for the MRPS to achieve categorisation of the SCs into A,B,C and D than electoral politics.
