A sewage treatment plant, having the capacity to treat 30 million litres of sewage per day (MLD), along with a pumping station, was inaugurated at Nalla Cheruvu by Minister for Mines and Geology Sabitha Indra Reddy on Wednesday.

Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) managing director G Asok Kumar said the the STP, built at a cost of Rs 12 crore, would treat the sewage coming from the catchment areas of Tarnaka, Malkajgiri, Kapra, Uppal, 10 percent of Cantonment and 90 per cent of Osmania University, Habisguda and Ramanthapur.The treatment process involves preliminary removal of inorganic solids and grit, anaerobic sludges, blanket reactors, followed by aeration in facultative aerated lagoons. Finally, the effluent will be chlorinated and let out into river Musi.

GLSR RESERVOIR: Minister for BC Welfare Mukesh Goud inaugurated a 5- ML capacity GLSR reservoir at Narayanguda built under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) at a cost of Rs 2.90 crore.

It would help in improving the water supply to about 4,800 connections in Kachiguda, Barkatpura, Narayanguda, Chapel Bazar, Nimboliadda and Satyanagar under daily water scheme.

Lok Sabha member Anjan Kumar Yadav, legislator G Kishen Reddy, HMWS&SB Director (Technical) M Satyanarayana, Director (Projects) Ch Goutham Reddy and other officials attended.
