HYDERABAD: Actor Brahmanandam whose very name which evokes a smile on faces of cinema lovers, was felicitated at a function amidst eminent personalities on Wednesday. The felicitation function was conducted by the Dattadeva Organisation at Thyagaraya Gana Sabha auditorium.

The guests who graced the occasion include Nannapaneni Rajakumari of the Telugu Desam, famous literary writer Dr C Narayan Reddy, comedian Gundu Hanumantha Rao and memory specialist-cumpsychologist Jaisimha.

The ace comedian was honoured with mementoes, bracelet, shawls and garlands. This comedian who has acted in a record number of 834 films enjoys immense popularity in the Telugu film industry. Spanning a career of 24 years, the actor has been the recipient of many awards and accolades.

The actor was recently awarded a doctorate by the Nagarjuna University and won the prestigious Padmashree Award for his acting.

Brahmanandam also finds mention in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Speaking on the occasion, the actor said, “I sincerely thank God for giving me this face and till I am alive I want to make people laugh.” He continued, “In my next life also I want to make you all smile and enjoy my presence.” The actor observed that he was very lucky since people forget all their worries the minute they see him. The key to one’s success is not just hard work. The credit must go to the Almighty for whatever we are,” he said. The comedian cracked a few jokes making the crowd burst into laughter.

C Narayan Reddy was all praise for the actor. “Any person who can make others laugh while being serious himself is great. Brahmanandam comes under this category.” While congratulating the actor for his achievements, Cinare said that the actor was a man of character and a nice human being.

N Rajakumari also heaped praises on the actor. “His transition from a lecturer to an accomplished actor is indeed indicative of the great heights he has touched,” Rajakumari said. “His greatness can be understood by the fact that he has acted with three generations of the NTR family,” she said.
