HYDERABAD: Revolutionary writer and singer Gadar today called upon all social and cultural activists to fight against the ``State and Brahmanical social order that is suppressing other classes from enjoying the democratic rights.’’ He called upon artistes to create awareness among the masses against exploitation in the name of saints like Kabir Das, Tukaram, Narayana Guru and others who had inspired the people in different parts of the country.

Balijan Cultural Movement (New Delhi) and BODHI - Center for Adivasi Dalit Bahujan Initiatives (Hyderabad) jointly organised a national conference on ``Balijan Cultural Movement’’ at the Osmania University here Saturday.

In his inaugural address at the day-long conference, Gadar opined that when there was no equality in society all the systems would function for name sake.

With this view socio cultural activists should educate the masses to raise questions against the State and God to change the social order. Structural change would help achieve social justice in the country, he observed. Gadar, singing songs, strongly criticised several intellectuals who include Arun Shourie for raising questions against leaders like Ambedkhar.

Balijan Cultural Movement and BODHI organisation chairman Kancha Illaiah, in his presidential address, emphasised the importance of social justice.

Need of the hour was to intensify cultural movement against cultural exploitation.

He hoped that `Balijan’ movement would expand across the nation in future.

Several scholars from across the country took part in the national conference.

Balijan Movement convener Sunil Sardar supervised the conference.
