HYDERABAD: Alleging that the state government has remained callous in resolving the major demands of various sections of government employees, the Andhra Pradesh Joint Action Committee of Employees, Teachers, Workers and Pensioners (AP JAC of Employees) today set a deadline of 10 a.m. tomorrow to the government to either address the demands or face protests.
Thousands of employees working in various government departments from various parts of the state went on a mass casual leave and arrived in the capital as part of 'Chalo Hyderabad’ call. They staged a dharna at Indira Park and then held a public meeting.
Despite government denying permission for their protest, the employees took out processions from various parts of the city to the venue of the dharna.
Police obstructed the rallies at various places and arrested many protestors.
They were shifted to Amberpet and Nampally police stations.
Employees took out rallies from Afzalgunj, Gymkhana Grounds, Sundariah Park and Telangana Non-Gazetted Officer (TNGO)’s Bhavan, Nampally.
Addressing the gathering at Indira Park, chairman of AP JAC of Employees V Gopal Reddy demanded that the state government should immediately address their problems and prevent the situation from going out of control.
Even as hundreds of employees organised protests on November 8 in all district headquarters, there had been no response from the government.
When JAC representatives warned that they would lay siege to Secretariat in protest against the arrest of the employees, police officials announced that they had released all employees.
