HYDERABAD: All houses in the twin cities would be provided with unique house number plates beginning with GHMC circles VIII and IX in the next couple of months, mayor Banda Karthika Reddy said.

After reviewing the progress of house numbering activities with concerned officials, the mayor said at present 12 surveyors are working in the seven core circles and in remaining 11 circles the survey is being done by private agencies.

The unique number plate depicts the number allotted to a particular house through which it can be identified very easily. The metal plates are in square shape in blue colour, with numbers in white, which is the international standard, according to the mayor.

Government buildings would be displayed with circular plate while heritage buildings and monuments will have brass plates. The numbers would be in sequential order and will be allotted for even open spaces and huts.

Signboards would be erected displaying names of colonies or streets, house numbers from starting to the last number on the street. The mayor said this information would help in gathering all data related to the household and can be shared with other government agencies, if needed.

Dhanunjaya Reddy, additional commissioner, Development and Planning and Satish Chandra, director, house numbering cell also attended the  meeting.
