HYDERABAD: With Air India pilots continuing their strike, the national carrier could operate only three flights from the city today to Visakhapatnam, Mumbai and Chicago.

On Saturdays, Air India usually operates 20 flights from Hyderabad but with pilots on strike, the management decided to fly only three flights.

"Our Hyderabad-Chicago flight is coming to our rescue every day. The AI-127 flight, a Boeing 777, has a capacity of 356 passengers. As it has a stopover at Delhi, we are able to fly Delhi-bound passengers, whose number would be about 250. The rest of the passengers are bound for Chicago," a spokesperson of Air India said.

As far as international flights are concerned, there is no dislocation as they are flown by pilots who used to fly Air India flights before the merger with Indian Airlines.

After the merger, all pilots had become Air India pilots but those who are on strike used to earlier fly Indian Airlines flights.

"The only international flight, Hyderabad-Chicago is on schedule today," said the spokesperson.
