The private bus operators abused media persons after inviting them for a press conference at Press Club here on Tuesday. One group even raised slogans against mediapersons.
The bus operators were angry with the newspaper reports criticising them for running buses without valid permits and for driving the buses at overspeed which led to a spate of accidents of late including the one at Osamanabad in Maharashtra where 30 persons lost their lives.
While the press conference was going on, a group of private bus operatos raised slogans saying, “Down with the media which painted bus operators as evil forces out to take the lives of passengers.”
HSC Bose, proprietor of SVR Tours and Travels said, “It is because of the media ruckus that our buses have been seized.”
Enraged over this the journalists lodged a complaint with the police.
The police arrested the slogan-shouting bus operators based on the complaint.
