The AP High Court on Friday stayed the state government order constituting two committees to review controversial Telugu films - “A Woman in Brahmanism” and “Denikaina Ready”.

The government has no authority to review it once the film is censored and certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the court said.

The two Telugu films have recently triggered protests with some Brahmin organisations alleging that the movies have hurt the sentiments of the community.

Following several protests and representations by the community seeking ban of the two films, the government had formed two separate committees to view the films and submit a report to it for necessary further action.

Justice K C Bhanu directed that no action be taken with regard to the committees, till further orders.

While granting interim stay, the judge ordered notices to the respondents and posted the matter for hearing after two weeks.
