

The bench and bar of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Wednesday observed two minutes of silence to mourn the demise of former acting chief justice Mohammed Sardar Ali Khan who passed away on Nov.8.
Speaking on the occasion, advocate general A Sudarshan Reddy said Justice Khan held many offices including that of the dean of the faculty of law at Osmania University, chairman of the AP Legal Aid Advisory Board, president of the AP Judicial Academy, president of the Nizam College Board and advisor to Prince Mukharamjah Trust.
Justice Khan also served as chairman of the National Commission for Minorities and was elected as the vicechairman of the United Nations Sub-commission on prevention of discrimination and protection of minorities.
The judge was an ex-officio member of the National Human Rights Commission till his demise.
Justice Sardar Ali Khan is survived by his wife, a son and four daughters.
High Court acting chief justice P C Ghose, judges and members of the legal fraternity were present.
