If you’ve been a Disney fan, then the prospect of meeting your favourite princess for real will be something that would transport you cloud nine. Launching for the first time in India, the Disney Princess Academy (DPA) will be a day-long princess-styled event that will give lucky winners a chance to be treated like royalty, meet their favourite Disney princess and maybe even fly to Disneyland in Hong Kong!
Since Disney came to India in 2004 with their Disney channel, the brand has been building itself for the Indian audience. In an effort to take their popularity to the next level, the DPA will not only reach out to children till the age of 10, their main audience, but will also give 1800 lucky girls across the country a day they’ll remember for a long time to come.
Speaking about the initiative, Roshini Bakshi, managing director, DCP, retail and publishing, Disney TV, says, “We want to give little girls the opportunity to feel like the princesses that they adore so much. Through the selection process we will choose 1800 girls who will be accompanied by their mothers for the one-day DPA in their respective cities. The academy however will not only be about feeling pretty but will also be about teaching the girls their princely responsibilities, being kind and compassionate. Their will be interactive sessions, a grooming session, and will even be taught how to ballroom dance, just like a princess!”
The DPA which is travelling to the Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Kolkata will also choose four lucky winners from each city and send them on a trip to Hong Kong Disneyland.
So how does one get into the academy?
“There are five mediums through which we have launched the selection process. Through the television, while watching Disney channel, when a child spots a Disney princess icon, like an apple or a glass slipper, a number is flashed along with it and they can give a missed call. We’ve also launched contests through the radio and online, through flipkart.com and firstcry.com. Girls can also encourage their mothers to play a game on our Facebook page. The higher the score, the more likely one will get a chance to win. One can also buy any Disney Princess Academy stickered product, answer a question and win. So there are lots of opportunities,” explain Bakshi.
The chosen lucky participants will win a dress of their favourite princess, meet the real princesses from Disneyland, get to wear a tiara and hopefully win the trip to Hong Kong.
The contest ends on October 21.
