A number of school students face a common enemy: Mathematics. The subject, which a majority of children dread, might just become a little bit easier, thanks to a 17-year-old.
Nischal Narayanam from the city has mastered the basics of maths and has set several records too. For starters, he is the youngest graduate from the Osmania University and is right now getting ready to sit for his CA final exam. That lends credibility to his words and when he says kids can crack the mystery of maths, he is right!
The wonder boy unveiled what he calls a Math Lab at a press conference here on Wednesday. “Many students face problems learning math. The subject is very important in a student’s life and also for the common man,” said Nischal Narayanam who has himself created the lab. In other words, he explains, it is practical mathematics.
“When I was in fifth standard, I had trouble learning mathematics, and I went to the market to buy models to understand the subject. But nothing was available,” recalled the teenager pointing out that, “we have labs for physics and chemistry, so I made one for maths.” The ‘math lab’ is a set of 1300 models of various items, which will help kids in learning the subject.
“I wanted to give back to society, and so I made the ‘math lab’ to help students. The set will be given at subsidised rates to government schools to help students from poor background,” Nischal said. According to him, with the help of the lab, one can learn everything from a formula to a concept. “It isn’t a replacement teacher, but is a tool to assist them, and students,” he admits.
Nischal is the youngest ‘double Guinness world record holder’ in memory testing. He is also the youngest world memory champion. In fact, the National Geographic had described him as the youngest world memory champion.
