Actress Anjali of Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu fame has gone missing.
The Jubille Hills Police on Tuesday registered a ‘missing’ case following a complaint lodged by her brother Ravi Shankar.
The development comes a day after Anjali sent a statement to the media in Chennai alleging harassment by her aunt Bharathi Devi and Tamil director Mu Kalanjiyam whom she also accused of swindling her savings.
In his complaint, Ravi Shanker said his sister had gone missing since Monday morning.
“Ravi Shanker came here in the evening, and informed us that his siter went missing from the Daspalla hotel in Jubillee Hills.
He also said there was a threat to Anjali’s life from Bharathi Devi,” M Saidulu, sub-inspector, Jubillee Hills police station, told Express.
The police searched the hotel and accessed CCTV camera footage.
“Investigation is on and we are looking for more clues,” Saidulu said.
In her statement to the media, Anjali had said that Bharathi Devi and Mu Kalanjiyam should be held responsible for whatever happens to her.
She also disclosed that her aunt would always accompany her to sets during shoots, and would not let her meet any family members or even friends.
“Currently, I own only one property in Chennai,” she said, alleging that Bharathi Devi and Kalanjiyam had been harassing and treating her like a slave and a money-making machine ever since her debut movie.
Bharathi Devi and Kalanjiyam rubbished the allegations.
“I still can’t understand why she would accuse me of harassment.
She says I looted crores of her savings, but she is only earning lakhs,” Devi said.
