The state government on Monday terminated the services of roads and buildings incharge engineer-in-chief K Siva Reddy, following the Andhra Pradesh Administrative Tribunal (APAT) and the High Court ruling against correction of his date of birth, by virtue of which he has been continuing in the post.
GO no 80 was issued on Monday, cancelling the previous GO 350, which had enabled the alteration of Reddy’s date of birth in the service register from May 2, 1954 to February 18, 1956.
The latest order deemed that Siva Reddy retired on superannuation on May 31, 2012 and said he shall be relieve of his duties with immediate effect. The service rendered by him from June 1, 2012, to August 26, 2013, will be treated as ‘not service’ for the purpose of pension etc, but pay and allowances for the said period will not be recovered, since he had discharge his duties.
According to sources, Siva Reddy was appointed to the post when YS Rajasekhara Reddy was chief minister and had influnced the administration to alter his date of birth. The alteration was challenged by M Gangadharam, incharge ENC (R&B) and S Rama Murthy, incharge CE (R&B) in the APAT. The APAT set aside the alteration orders, following which the government filed a writ petition in the High Court, which only confirmed the APAT orders.
Following the orders of both APAT and the High Court, the government cancelled the previous GO and terminated Siva Reddy from his post.
