The new Blackberry Z10 has hit the market and here’s what you need to know.

The Z10 has everything BB fans have been dying for - a sleek, modern, and professional touch-screen body with an up-to-date OS to match and 4G LTE support. The virtual keyboard comes with extra ease to work with and BB Messenger is equipped with seamless voice chats. The Z10’s Micro-HDMI port, and 8-megapixel camera with its built-in editing tools is also something you’ll oogle over. Cnet and other tech portals have given it a favourable rating but with a rider.

The Z10’s unintuitive gesture paradigm creates a learning curve, and a long list of OS inefficiencies and omissions completely take away from the overall feel-good experience, Cnet reported. The maps app which can’t compete with Google even on a not so good day and a deficit of camera features are two examples, it claimed. But then, if 8 megapixel is good enough for an iPhone, why not for BB?

While it may be great, the phone will do little to lure committed iPhone or Android owners because it is on a par and doesn’t offer anything more substantial.  BlackBerry detractors will plainly see a poor iPhone copy that offers little more than the usual features found in any present-day OS. But BB fans will definitely appreciate the modern design and features.

RIM (Research in Motion) also announced that the company will officially be known as BlackBerry.

The BlackBerry Z10 is on sale in select countries and may come to India soon enough.
