Hairstyles for your new semester

Colleges reopen this week and the first few days are all about glamming up the new academic year. If you’ve been wondering how to make a subtle yet diva statement, well, the best way is to change up your hair-do. We give some easy-to-do hairstyles that will barely take about 15  minutes to put up.

Balloon ponytail

l Create a low side-parting and comb your hair towards one side and secure it a ponytail.

l Comb the ponytail upwards to give it bounce.

l Tie the ponytail with multi-coloured elastic bands of your choice at a gap of four inches successively, giving it a youthful look.

Head-band braid

l Comb your hair backwards till the end and take a square inch section from behind the left ear.

l Braid the section completely and secure the end with an elastic band.

l Wrap the braid overhead towards the right and secure it with a hairpin behind your right ear.

l Leave your hair open for a new look.

Voluminous one-sided braid

l Mark out four inch section of hair framing the face and comb it.

l Comb the remaining hair to one-side and make a regular plait.

l Let the section around your face fall smoothly for about two inch sections and pin rest of it at the back in a puff, for that casual-chic look.

Butterfly ponytail

l Brush your hair till end and gather it all in a ponytail.

l Tie your hair slightly above the neck and divide the ponytail along the centre.

l Flip the ponytail through the band to cover it, and you are good to go.

Twisted side bun

l Brush the hair towards one side and tie it up in a ponytail. Now divide the ponytail into three sections.

l Take one section, twist the hair till the end and twist the section around the elastic band and secure in place with bobby-pins.

l Repeat with the two remaining sections.

l Now you have a side-bun. For those who have a fringe in the front or bangs, twist it till the end and secure it with a pin behind the ear.
