The Ramgopalpet police on Saturday arrested a bouncer of Paradise hotel for thrashing a woman flower vendor outside the hotel. The incident took place Friday night. The hotel management, for its part, sacked him from duties for his behaviour. Police said when Aruna (28) was selling mogra near the parking lot of the hotel in Secunderabad, the bouncer, Prakash Yadav, asked her to vacate the place.
She reportedly refused to go, after which they two had heated arguments and Yadav beat her up. Even as she was leaving the place, Yadav reportedly pushed her to the ground, snatched the basket of flowers and tore them apart. He again began beating her. Noticing the hideous incident, locals rushed to the woman’s rescue. Yadav then ran inside the garage of the hotel.
DCP V B Kamalasan Reddy said the cops arrested Yadav. “The locals called 100. Within minutes, a team rushed to the spot,” said the DCP. A customer, who was also an eye-witness said, “I called 108 ambulance and also informed a couple of media houses about the terrible,” she said.
In an era of technology where everyone talks about online activism, one of the eye-witnesses went ahead and documented the whole incident in her blog titled ‘Paradise No More’.
Though the blog was posted Saturday morning, it had more than 300 Facebook shares, more than 300 Twitter shares and around 140 comments by the end of the day. The Paradise hotel management also commented on the blog and said, “Through this message the Management of Paradise sincerely apologies to the Flower lady and to the blogger and her friends. We took action immediately after we were informed. We have terminated the services of the Security Agency with immediate effect. The Bouncers or Security personnel have been appointed to take care of the security of the people.”
