A five day free health and medical camp was launched at Shadan Hospital on Tuesday. The department of General Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Pediatrics and others will provide free medical services for economically backward patients.
The first day witnessed nearly a 1000 patients attending the camp, which was inaugurated by Dr Sharib Rasool Khan, director, Shadan Institute of Medical Sciences.
At the Department of Paediatrics, about 200 children from nearby schools were screened for anaemia, refractive errors, infestations and other symptoms. They were also treated free of cost.
At the Department of Ophthalmology, children were screened for vitamin A deficiency, preventable blindness and refractive errors and other symptoms, while some elderly patients were operated for cataract. Nearly 10 surgeries were performed on many needy patients.
At the Department of Orthopaedics, about 100 patients attended the free camp and were screened for osteoporosis, low back pain, sciatica, disk, osteoarthritis.
At the Department of Gynaecology, nearly 150 women came in for a free check-up for ante natal care, infertility and some malignant tumours.
A diabetes check up, X-rays, CT-scans, MRI-scans, dental check up and other services was also provided.
The Shadan Hospital is located at Himayat Sagar in the city. The free camp medical camp concludes on November 9.
