The Institute of Electronic Governance (IEG) has signed a pact with Oracle India to implement Oracle Academy’s computer science curriculum in 400 educational institutions in Andhra Pradesh.
Over 50,000 students and 1,000 instructors in the state are expected to be introduced to computer science and advanced computer science offerings under this agreement which is likely to help students develop vital business and technological skills.
“Andhra Pradesh has been in the forefront of creating a skilled technology workforce for India and the international arena. With changes in the global marketplace and increasing competition, it has become more important for us to deliver advanced technology training to students to help them be successful in a complex, interconnected world,” minister of IT & communications Ponnala Lakshmaiah said here on Monday.
According to Oracle, more than 685,000 students from 31,000 educational institutions across the country have benefited from the Oracle Academy programme over the last five years.
As part of the MoU, faculty training to about 150 members will begin in January that will enable them to use Oracle Academy infrastructure to train other teachers. Additionally, Oracle Academy’s content and courseware will also be offered as elective modules in at least 100 institutions.
Computer Science curricula includes database design and programming with SQL, database programming with PL/SQL, Java fundamentals and Java programming.
“The Oracle Academy offers a comprehensive programme that helps students gain industry-relevant technological skills needed to succeed in today’s job market,” said Yatin Kantak, senior director and group head, Geo-expansion, Oracle India.
