Toll canopies to come up along ORR

The work, costing Rs 142 crore, will be taken up with loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

With the work on the 158-km-long stretch of the Nehru Outer Ring Road (ORR) nearing completion, the Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL), a joint venture company of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and Infrastructure Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (INCAP), proposes to construct and supervise Toll Administrative Buildings (TABs), Traffic Control Centres (TCCs) and Toll Canopies at Toll Plazas along the ORR.

The work, costing Rs 142 crore, will be taken up with loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) under Phase-2 programme.

TABs & TCCs

The construction of eco-friendly TABs and TCCs has been divided into four packages. TABs will be built at the Nanakramguda interchange under Package-I; at the APPA, Rajendranagar, Nanakramguda, Kokapet, Edulanagulapally, Patancheru and Sultanpur interchanges under Package-2; at the Saragudem, Medchal, Shamirpet, Keesara, Ghatkesar and Taramatipet interchanges under Package-3; and at the Pedda Aberpet, Bongulur, Raviryal, Tukkuguda, Pedda Golconda and Shamshabad interchanges under Package- 4.

Canopies, fire stations

Construction of toll canopies and fire-fighting facilities at ORR interchanges around Hyderabad city at Bongulur, Shamirpet, Saragudem, Patancheru, Nanakramguda, Pedda Amberpet, Ghatkesar and Medchal under Package- 1; at APPA, Rajendranagar- 1 (South), Rajendranagar- 2 (North),Pedda Golconda, Tukkuguda, Raviryal, Taramatipet, Keesara, Sultanpur, Idulnagulapally, Kokapet and Shamshabad under Package-2.

An amount of Rs 23 crore will be spent on furniture and signages, and Rs 6 crore on diesel power generator sets. HMDA officials told Express that HGCL invited requests for proposals (RFPs) for providing consultancy services for construction and supervision of the buildings. The project comprises construction of toll plaza administrative buildings, traffic control centres and subcentres and connected works. The construction will involve use of modern equipment and construction practices.

The supervision and consultancy package comprises civil construction packages and related works. The civil works will be supervised by the consultants on behalf of HGCL. The 158-km-long road connects Patancheru, Shamshabad, Pedda Amberpet, Ghatkesar, Shamirpet, Medchal to the existing and proposed major growth centres and linking all the state and national highways passing through Hyderabad. The government will provide orbital linkage to decongest traffic on the existing arterials and to facilitate urban outgrowth.
