HYDERABAD: Forensic officials on Wednesday confirmed that the Tollywood actor Uday Kiran had died of asphyxiation caused by hanging himself to the ceiling after consuming liquor.

Seven months after the incident at the actor’s rented flat in Srinagar Colony, the forensic officials released a report to police. With the forensic officials confirming it as a suicide, police who had registered a suspicious death case would convert it into a suicide case and file a chargesheet before the court.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) V Satyanarayana said as per the report the actor had consumed alcohol before resorting to the extreme step. It was on January 5, Uday Kiran was found hanging from the ceiling in his flat at Srinagar Colony. Wife Vishita and some neighbours rushed him to a corporate hospital in Jubilee Hills where he was pronounced dead on arrival. On January 7, police questioned Vishita  and some of Uday’s family members in connection with his suicide.

Uday, who was born on January 26, 1980, made his cinematic debut with Telugu romantic drama ‘Chitram’ in 2000. He went on to act in several successful films such as ‘Nuvvu Nenu’ and ‘Manasantha Nuvve’. In October last year, Uday married his long-time friend Vishita. In 2003, He was engaged to Chiranjeevi’s daughter but the marriage was called off for unknown reasons.

Uday Kiran’s suicide has led to various speculations. It was widely suspected that his inability to manage financial matters led to the tragedy. Uday’s personal manager Munna, on the pretext of making a movie with Uday in the lead, collected over ` 30 lakh and disappeared about a year ago.

This had become a huge financial burden for Uday as those who had given the money started pressuring the actor, forcing him to stay at home resulting in depression.
