Former joint director of Central Bureau of Investigation VV Lakshminarayana, who is now posted in Maharashtra, has revealed that the BJP and Aam Aadmi Party have invited him to join their parties but he chose to strive to provide education to all as he believes education is a tool to bring long-lasting changes in society.
Speaking at an event ‘Statewide campaign for democratic values in elections’ organised by Lead India-2020 Foundation here on Sunday, Lakshminarayana urged youth to exercise their vote right.
“In the past foreigners had aspired to study at Nalanda and other universities in India. Indians excelled in many fields.
That is the kind of country we had. Because of invasion by foreign powers, the situation here deteriorated. If the country has to regain its lost glory, everyone should become part of democracy and casting your vote is one way of the mechanism,” said Lakshminarayana who is also vice-president of the foundation.
He pointed out that with introduction of the NOTA (none of the above) option, people can reject all candidates and there was no excuse to avoid voting on the ground that no contestant deserves their vote. “Youth should avoid getting lured by freebies offered by political parties and everyone one of you should educate others about the importance of voting,” said Lakshminarayana addressing the students.
“Unlawful practices should be solved and for this to happen you should state ‘whoever solves the problems will get our vote’ and the message should spread throughout the state,” NB Sudarshan Acharya, founder and foundation chairman, said.
