HYDERABAD: In view of the Champions League Trophy T20 matches scheduled to be held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium at Uppal in the city from September 17, the Cyberabad police have banned carrying of gadgets and certain articles into the stadium as a security measure.
Spectators will not be allowed to carry with them articles such as bags, banners, cell phones, cameras, binoculars, match- boxes, lights, helmets, cigarettes, perfumes, eatables, carriers, water bottles.
Joint commissioner of police Y Gangadhar and deputy commissioner of police (traffic) Avinash Mohanty said that adequate and elaborate arrangements were being made in coordination with different wings like security wing (250 men), traffic (270), law and order (413), armed forces (12 sections), SB, CCS staff and two fire- tenders with fire-fighting squad. There will be total number of about 1,200 personnel deployed for bandobust.
There will be 56 CCTV cameras installed in and around the stadium, including at vehicle-check points, a command and control room is also being established to monitor all the CCTV footage for taking immediate action, if need be. Quick Response Teams (QRT) will be kept standby to deal with any exigency. Anti-sabotage checks with the help of 10 teams will continue round the clock until the last match is completed.
Separate teams are being deployed for checking the movements of antisocial elements.
Adequate number of signage boards are being erected at vantage points for proper guidance to the visitors. In view of the ongoing metro rail works, visitors will not be allowed to park their vehicles on either side of the main road from GenPact to the Uppal Ring Road.
Spectators, who hold tickets for entry through outer Gate Nos. G-2, G-3 and G-11 shall enter the stadium from the Ramanthapur road and park their vehicles in single line on either side of the road stretching from Ramanthapur main road (HP petrol bunk) to Kendriya Vidyalaya-I. Physically-challenged ticket-holders are advised to enter the stadium from the Ramanthapur road and through Gate No-3 (service entry) after parking their vehicles in Parking Place-B. Those who hold passes for entry through Gate Nos G-4 to G-9 should enter the stadium from the Habsiguda-Uppal main road (via Ek Minar) and park their vehicles at Penguin Ground general parking place. Holders of complimentary passes for corporate boxes, car passes and have access through Gate G-1 should enter from the Ramanthapur road (LG godown) and park their vehicles in the parking place A or B parking places respectively.
Heavy goods vehicles coming from LB Nagar and Warangal will not be allowed towards Habsiguda and will be diverted at the Uppal crossroad to pass through Chengicherla crossroads to reach the Mallapur bridge. Heavy goods vehicles coming from ECIL, Kushaiguda, Cherlapally towards Uppal crossroad will be diverted via Mallapur Bridge, Chengicherla crossroads (Warangal route) and LB Nagar junctions.
