HYDERABAD: Is a duplex house in posh Kundanbagh area, where senior IPS and IAS officers’ quarters are located, haunted?

Believing that ghosts are in the building, some miscreants, apparently in an inebriated  condition, threw stones at it recently. Scared after the latest incident, the neighbours approached the police and lodged a complaint. The police dismissed reports that the house in question was haunted.

Police officials said a few days ago, some miscreants allegedly heard a woman screaming inside the building and hurled stones before running away from the place. Disturbed more by the nuisance being regularly caused by curious youngsters than by ghosts, the locals approached the police.

The police took the youngsters into custody and questioned them. During questioning, the youth told them that they had heard a woman screaming inside the building while they were passing by. A day after the incident, the Punjagutta police put up a notice in front of the building stating that it was not a haunted house. If anyone creates panic in the locality, police will take stern action, the notice warns.

Deputy commissioner of police (DCP) V Satyanarayana, who wants to visit the place himself to urge people not to believe in superstitions, told Express that nothing had happened in the locality and some miscreants were trying to create panic.

“We will protect people and prevent untoward incidents. We request people not to believe in such superstitions as ghosts,” the DCP said.
