Governor ESL Narasimhan on Tuesday ordered an inquiry into alleged irregularities in the conduct of AP PG Medical Entrance Examination-2014.

Governor ESL Narasimhan on Tuesday ordered an inquiry into alleged irregularities in the conduct of AP PG Medical Entrance Examination-2014.

Prof LV Venugopal Reddy will be conducting the inquiry. The governor’s decision came after a delegation of junior doctors had takenthe matter to his notice.

Earlier, a large group of MBBS graduates, who have appeared for AP PG Medical Entrance test, organised a protest rally from Siddartha Medical College to NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) Tuesday demanding a probe into the irregularities in the entrance test and reconduct of the exam by putting a stay on admissions counselling.

“Aspirants who have fared miserably in the PG entrance tests of the other states have scored top ranks in AP PG Medical Entrance Examination-2014 (APPGMEE) , giving scope to a lot of suspicions. There are glaring differences between the ranks that many candidates scored in the AP PG exam and other nationwide exams. How can a student who fared so badly in the other exams can get top 100 ranks in the AP test,” questions M Radhika.

“For instance, first ranker in the APPGMEE got 4,429 rank in the COMEDK, one of the prestigious entrance tests in Karnataka. While the 6th ranker got 6,088 in the COMEDK. Students who got 8, 10, 19, 25 ranks in the AP PG exam have not even qualified in the other PG entrances like COMEDK and NIMSET. This proves that irregularities have occurred in PG exams,” alleges V Rajesh, a junior doctor.

As soon as the APPGMEE results were announced on March 15, allegations over the irregularities in the conduct of exam started making rounds. The glaring discrepancies in the ranks of the rankholders has given birth to these suspicions. While the students who fared well in the AP PG exam fared miserably in the other entrances and vice-versa. Gurivi Reddy, who got into news with hitech copying in 2012, got 8th rank in the APPG exam this year.

Chaitanya, a junior doctor, said that the situation is so worse that students who have even failed in the MBBS exams and were suspended scored top ranks in the PG entrance. “We suspect question paper leak and crores of rupees have changed hands,” he said.

The junior doctors gave a representation to NTRUHS registrar S Babu Lal demanding an inquiry to the irregularities in the conduct of exam. Registrar Babu Lal said, “If we observe the points highlighted by the PG entrance aspirants, it appears that some irregularities could have occurred. We will go into the issue and if necessary will order an inquiry.”

AP Junior Doctors’ Association Vijayawada president Kranthi Kumar also demanded a detailed inquiry.
