Former minister Satrucharla Vijayarama Raju (Pathapatnam), MLA Gandluru Veerasiva Reddy (Kamalapuram), former MLA Duvvada Nagavali (Tekkali) and MLC Gorle Haribabu Naidu (Srikakulam district) are the latest Congress leaders to join the TDP.
Vijayarama Raju, Nagavali and Haribabu Naidu, who all hail from Srikakulam district, chose the TDP’s Praja Garjana public meeting, held at Srikakulam on Wednesday, to embrace the yellow party whereas Veerasiva Reddy took the membership of the TDP at Chandrababu Naidu’s residence here on the same day.
It is homecoming for Vijayarama Raju and Veerasiva Reddy who were earlier with the TDP.
Meanwhile, Vijaya Rama Raju’s joining the TDP might not be a shocker to the Jai Samaikyandhra chief N Kiran Kumar Reddy as Raju has been maintaining distance from him for several days. But, Veerasiva Reddy’s sudden switchover to the yellow party might be a cause of concern to Kiran as the Kamalapuram MLA had been hobnobbing with the former chief minister till the other day.
After formally becoming a member of the TDP, Veerasiva Reddy said he had chosen to come back to his parent party as he believed that only Naidu could develop Seemandhra.
PITHANI TOO?: Another close aide of Kiran Reddy, Pithani Satyanarayana, is also understood to have at last decided to part ways with his one-time boss.
Pithani Satyanarayana, who represents Penugonda in West Godavari district, met TDP’s Rajya Sabha member Garikapati Mohan Rao and sought seat assurance for him. Sources said TDP leader CM Ramesh also held talks with Pithani on the same issue. Following these talks, Pithani decided to join the TDP on March 31, the day of Ugadi.
Indicating that he was severing his ties with Kiran, Pithani did not turn up at the Politburo meeting of Jai Samaikyandhra Party.
