HYDERABAD: The much-delayed 2 km bypass road project from Nalla Cheruvu to Inner Road at RTA Office along the Musi River will materialise soon as the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has decided to lay the road at the earliest.

To avoid traffic congestion on Uppal Main Road i.e from Peerjadiguda to Uppal Ring Road, which is a major bottleneck for  traffic coming in from Warangal, the GHMC has proposed to provide a bypass to the existing National Highway.

In this connection, the GHMC has invited proposals for consultancy services for preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the proposed road from Nalla Cheruvu to Inner Road at RTA office along the Musi River.

The GHMC has planned to lay an alternate road as the state government opined that the Warangal National Highway from Uppal junction to Nalla Cheruvu is very narrow and there is a need to widen the same to 200 ft as per the masterplan. As an alternative to this, it is proposed to lay a bypass road from Nalla Cheuvu to inner ring road at RTA office along the Musi.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has developed a layout along the Musi River with a main road of 100 feet from Nagole bridge to Nalla Cheruvu surplus nala for a length of 2 km as a radial road connecting Inner Ring Road to Outer Ring Road (ORR).

The GHMC has proposed to link the National Highway and the existing newly formed HMDA radial road crossing the surplus nala of Nalla Cheruvu. The corporation proposed to form a 100 feet wide six lane road from Peerjadiguda to link with the existing 100 feet road laid by the HMDA.

The GHMC officials said that the selected consultant, while preparing a feasibility report, has to analyse the performance of the existing traffic and transport system and identify and investigate the impacts which affect the proposed bypass road from Nalla Cheruvu to inner ring road at RTA Office along Musi River.

The consultant should also examine the operation of the existing transport network and  identify issues related to traffic network operations, estimate future transport and travel demands based on trends of existing growth and projected changes in land use and demographic patterns and its impact on the present road width i.e right of way.
